Sit beyond good & evil

"Morality is impossible without Religious Devotion To Duty"

John Kavenaugh wrote this intriguing article for that left-wing Catholic magazine America. In it, he states that the real problem with moral relativism is that you end up demanding that Other people follow rules that you won't follow yourself- and that the Philosopher Kant argues against this, while arguing for freedom.I find this fascinating, because I myself have a basic philosophical problem with freedom: Political and Religious Freedom contains the Freedom to Do Good, but it also contains the Freedom to Do Evil.Immanuel Kant counters this with the idea that if you're going to hold to a principle, you should hold it yourself as a religious duty to the greater good. After all, what good is having a rule if you won't follow it yourself? This, to me, is the core of morality- to do what is right in the service of the greater good. It's also the core of just about every major religion on the planet, save Protestantism, which has the concept of being saved by Faith Alone (despite the Biblical pronouncement against this in the book of James- which claims we are saved NOT by faith alone, but by good works).September 2008 taught us that free markets, in the absence of strict ethics and moral code, will fail- that freedom contains the freedom to do evil. Only by adhering to a duty to do good, can we overcome this.

>Political and Religious Freedom contains the Freedom to Do Good, but it also contains the Freedom to Do Evil.Yes, but we mustn't do evil, because it restricts itself -the freedom to do evil. As long as we do good, we keep on having two freedoms -freedom to do good or evil. Therefore we need to do good. >which claims we are saved NOT by faith alone, but by good works). Paul once said a guy who doesn't work is worse than the guy who doesn't have faith. Spiritual civilisation stands on the firm material civilisation.

We need a compensation for this 2 hours if we had to work only 6 hours instead of 8 hours in a day.We need to get paid $80 x 4/3 or $107 for working 6 hours. We sell time and buy money in working hours. We sell money and buy time in pleasure hours.

I thought I went to see the play if I noticed it before. Some popular drama has been performed two or three times in a day and lasts for six months, would be watched by many. Mrs Marquise de Sade is not watched by many but few, but the few would go to see the theatre without fail.

The feeling of falling in love2008.11.03 9:09About more than a year ago I encountered a woman in a local town. I fell in love at first sight. It was actually hard for me to explain the feeling of it in a word. She seemed ideal and perfect to me. I just talked to her a couple of word near her office. Her office and mine happened to be very close and she happened to live near my house though I didn't seek to know exactly where. She started wearing a ring in her left hand sometime after I talked to her. I tried to forget her ignore her though the effort was in vain. All the more I felt affectionate with her the more I tried to forget her.She disappeared from my sight sometime around March this year.It is enigmatic and inexplicable to hold the feeling of falling in love, but it is true that I fall in love with her. I don't know her name, many things on her. It is hard to get over the feeling of it, still I have no way to ease it.

I didn't like the shape of the ring so we didn't buy it.First rings I bought were made in plutinum, Acquascutum. 500 bucks each. The second ring I bought for pleasure was made in silver 925. 22 bucks. The third ones will be... not sure yet.We had many options in kinds of precious metals recently. Fine steel, silver coated by platinum, silver with 5% plutinum included. But I like a ring made by only silver. I recall Biblical times in Old Testament whenever I see silver rings. Allowance
2008.11.12 5:26

Our government decides to pay a fixed allowance to each natinal. Ordinary adults get paid $120 and age more than 65 and less than 18 get paid $200, so average household get received $640.
We need money so simply I'm glad that. But what really we need is a steady job, pay increase, a regular bonus, tax cuts. Our government left all these problems and gives us just allowance. I feel sorry but we need to call ourselves a beggar at last.

>I believe in individual freedoms and tend to think people should be left alone to decide social policy for themselves.
It's interesting to see from right to left in the US this attitude is unchanging. It's also intersting to observe how Asian's nationality is much more group-oriented.People are willing to deny an individual freedom and have learned from their childhood how to make sacrifices for the sake of society and are wanting a unified social policy to follow. They are reluctant to choose whatever they want. They like to be given, not tend to seek for something better for themselves.

The meaning of civilian control
2008.11.09 15:20

94 member of air self defence force submitted theses to private thesis competition. Total number of people who submitted was 235. A head of air self defence force got the first prize and $300,000. His theme was 'Japan was not an invader nation'. 9 out of ten people would say no to his idea. But it's just ok to have various opinions, however..it is questionable if it were an opinion of current head of armed forces. The meaning of civilian control is it is civilian that decides the use of force. A head of armed forces ought not to express their idea while they are in charge. It is very natural for government to insist the return of retired money from former head of armed forces. He was fired but received the money of $600,000. I'm not sure whether he returns but I hope anyone who is a head of armed forces keep silent, especially when it comes to political opinions. Please make sure that.

Wind from China
2008.11.09 15:00

They say Japan is an industrialised nation. As a matter of fact there are many factories located off the coast. We have been sometimes sufferred from polluted air, especially from the one called 'photochemical smog'. We used to have a severe state in that. Now the contents of smoke is very regulated and said to be safer than those of in many years ago. But still we have smog problems. We started claiming that the polluted air is arriving from newly industrialised coastal China since few years ago. Japanese people are good at attributing to next nations when it comes to something unpleasant. Japanese local government regulates the quantity of smoke emission by the degree of polluted air. If the harmful matterial exceeds the standard, factories have to stop or decrease the production to meet the criteria. Japanese factories increase production again after it was restricted, insisting that because it is owing to Chinese factories to exceed the level of pollution. The gross of polluted material, that matters, no matter who comes up the pollution.

Not yet understanding

Her former husband went to mountain to pick out the cloud. I added detergent to the well to try to sanitise the water in it. I really couldn't understand where saliva is from when I didn't take any water. I had thought the car direction indicator was lit automatically. I had thought the antenna is automatically directed to the broadcasting centre. I really couldn't understand the meaning of 'World heritage' because heritage meant all left money at that time for me. I thought all people speak Japanese because all filmstars talk in Japanese. Only later I realised they are interpretted.

Jack of all trades

Fuji film starts selling cosmetics. Kanebo was established as a yarn company and later it started selling cosmetics. Toyota was first making a weaving machine. Sharp improved a mechanical pencil first and later it went to electronics industry. Sony started making a solid-state radio and now selling a life insurrance, too.

Soup in noodles
2008.11.06 23:14

17 year ago I had a Filipina girlfriend. She made me noodles one day and she insisted I drink all the soup of noodles because it's healthy. At that time we had no custom to drink up all the soup. We just left it and throw away.Time has passed. Our company asked us at lunch we are supposed to drink it up all the soup because it's insanitary to throw away into a sink.I now drink up all the soup because I don't like to waste nutrition. We are becoming stingy whatever the reason.

2008.11.06 22:53

What they seek for
2008.11.06 22:36

Wives and kids seek for stability, security, and reliability. They seek for manly man, not a sissy boy. A wife with her kids who were told from their hubby or dad who came out that he is gay hid themselves. The guy or gay consulted one famous gay that he wants to see them. No way.We need only one woman in a house. We don't need another woman in the same household.

Illusion of smokers
2008.11.06 22:05

We entered a Spanish restaurant at 13:40. It was non-smoking hours from 11 to 14.5 minutes past 14, two old women started smoking beside us. Of course I left there. You cannot smoke from 11 to 14 doesn't mean you can smoke except 11 to 14, but means you ought not to smoke throughout all business hours but especially you mustn't smoke from 11 to 14 or lunch time.Smokers don't understand the meaning because they smoke.

We need a compensation for this 2 hours if we had to work only 6 hours instead of 8 hours in a day.We need to get paid $80 x 4/3 or $107 for working 6 hours. We sell time and buy money in working hours. We sell money and buy time in pleasure hours.

Penis is one of organs that can change the size very drastically. I firmly believe that it is art to take a picture of penis in smallest condition, also it is art to take a picture of penis in healthy pinkish condition. Aside from the evaluation to your penis itself, I understand this picture represents male healthy condition.--Ancient Greek Philosophers - 18c Enlightenment Thinkers - deviantART Users

What was so shocking to the scholars who examined the ancient documents was that there was a community of people practicing Christianity, or something very close to it, for at least 200 years before the time of Christ. Both the practice of baptism and of the sharing of the wine are recorded as part of their practices long before Jesus and John the Baptist popularized them.

Nothing comes out of nothing. Christianity was not the exception.

One Light Year

Light can travel 7.5 times around the globe in a second.
One year is 365 days. 365 times 24, which is 8760 hours.
8760 hours times 60, which is 525600 minutes.
525600 minutes times 60, which is 31536000 seconds.
So One light year can travel 40000 km times 7.5 times 31536000,
which is 126144 times 7.5 times 10000000, which is 946080 times 10000000, which is 9,460,800,000,000 km.

Eight Horns

Chinese Proposal to blend their old traditional medicine with modern western medicine
mercedo
Sat, 09 Dec 2006 05:39:07 PST
The effective ingredients of Tamiflu was found from Chinese traditional medicine 'eight horns' -I wrote it before. Chinese people usually don't extract effective ingredients from natural materials, in this case it's a horn. They use it as it is. They grind it and make powder. They take it through mouth.
In the first place they observed the phenomenon of nature closely and learned through empirical rules, probably they might have eyewitnessed that some animal took it and got recovered from the illness, etc.
Western culture take more positive way. They synthesise the chemical material, and try giving it to some animals. When they were able to certify the effectiveness of medicine, finally they conduct a clinical trial. Chinese empirical method will give them a hint which material to research.

Does someone tell me why 'old.' Technocrat.net?

Biggest Investment Ever
2006.01.30 7:09

If I bought gold or silver, the value of these metal would never change as time passes, therefore it's precious. Knowledge is, on the other hands, once acquired, these turn to wisdom after some time.
My largest investment went into acquiring knowledge from a book in my early twenties. I invested millions of time doing so, now it's time I got reward from them. I'm sure I will.
Personally speaking, I like silver though. I like the touch of it and its eternity. When I was reading Bible, I often encountered the description of silver, I used to watch my marriage ring again and again then imagined if part of my ring come from the same silver in biblical times.

In Search Of New Energy
2006.01.29 8:11
I think there's a very different history, background behind what power plant we favour in Japan or Europe and USA. As was the same in the situations of other countries, Japanese government twenty years ago were very enthusiatic about building new nuclear power plants one after another. As a result of this policy, many new plants were built and planned. You see Japan is very populated in this tiny island, people were afraid of nuclear disaster as Chernobyl, and Three Miles Island. As we anticipated, a number of incidents occurred, fortunately none of them was as serious as Chernobyl, but some workers died and nuclear agency had to spend millions of tax to compensate them and clean the nuclear contamination as well.
Now governemnt as well as people are just fed up with building new facilities. That doesn't pay. Many new plans have been abandoned so far for these fifteen years.
Nuclear power was based on a revolutionary idea but nuclear power plant was based on an obsolete idea. The true nuclear power can be generated in a small chamber, not a factory. The key is 'E=MC2', one of good examples of utilising new energy is the recent development of fusion battery. We have to concentrate our wisdom on the issue.

Homo Belligerence
2006.01.29 8:08

It has been thought to be a riddle for humans to be unable to find relatives of ourselves. In the case of many other animals, there are many kins around them. So some scientists tried to explain this mystery by assuming a missing link from humans to apes. -There must be a primate that hasn't found yet.
I am not particularly a proponent of this theory, though, I support a huge chasm in genetics between humans and apes. My supposition is that humans were so belligerent that they killed almost all kins genetically closer to humans. We were indeed homo belligerence.

Unmanned Weaponry

This news reminds me the deployment of unmanned battle vehicle [ubergizmo.com] in Iraq one year ago. It was experimental, so the number of the machines were few.

Transfiguration
2006.01.25 7:20

When Era of Tsin Dynasty, scholars from Europe demonstrated that the very complicated Chinese writing system (about 5000 ideograms) can be transliterated in the combination of only 26 characters. Chinese ruler at that time was just amazed to see them.
Technically speaking, transliteration from very complicated ideograms into simplified phonetic characters is possible, but because of the habit, custom, bad? tradition, we are still using that very clumsy writing system.
Again technically, English writing system can be transfigured into the combination of 0 and 1 as in computer. Morse signal is also based on this idea.
As to the logics of language, both English and Chinese are very logical language. That's why both find so many users.

Money Game
2006.01.25 7:15

Under the current system in the Internet, if you have $10, you can buy up to $100 worthy of shares. If the stock you bought rose up to $2000, that is 20 times as much as you invested, you can get $2000. As opposed to this success example, if you lost $100, you would end up owing $100 in debt.
He succeeded this money game. He came to be very rich through making the most of this strange system. This speculative game might have produced millions of fortunes, only in figure. Still many business people believe figure is everything. Probably figure (flow economy) reflects part of the truth but not all. What percent? Depending on who you are.
After Mr Horie was arrested, the share of his company is skydiving. He's never returned any part of his huge profit to his 20,000 shareholders, mostly individual ones who dreamed a high return. The heart of the investers were broken twice.
Trust is more important than money.

Actually what's really toxic is the partial pressure of O2. This is the reason why divers can't dive below 85 feet (If I recall correctly) on Nitrox II. It's also the reason why pilots need pressure suits and full face masks even if they're breathing pure oxygen above Flight Level 350 or so. If you can't get the ambient air to a pressure of at least 20 percent of an atmosphere, then you'll slowly go hypoxic as your body attempts to breath in sufficient oxygen.

No Paradigm

mercedo's Journal (2554)
Some Paradigms Are Unnecessary
2006.01.20 9:58
Mike, go home. Mike goes home. Since there are two meanings here, we need to define verbs, one is for order, and the other is for ordinary.
But how about these, -He goes home, since 'he' is used as the third person, we don't have to use -es to define as ordinary sentence. He go home/He goes home both means the same.
We use "isn't/ aren't/ don't/ doesn't/ hasn't/ haven't" according to the subject we used, but "ain't" can replace all these negations, is "ain't" enough to use instead? If you think "ain't" is a bad word, just 'not' will be replaced for this.
You see the most logical word order might be like 'He not go to the zoo.', the negation word 'not' has to be placed before verb so like 'I not have written journals for two days since I was busy.'

Revolutionary Idea
2006.01.20 9:54
Poison to poison, chaos to oscillating movement. Nono world is ruled by completely different physics -as quantum theory tells - as if it were both wave and molecule, it is such a hard thing to grasp the notion there in nano world.
The same applied to macrocosm. Space where lightyear rules, completely different physics -they say theory of relativism - works.
Oscillating movements lead to taming chaos is a revolutionary idea, I hope it does work.

Direction Of Wind
2006.01.20 9:51
I don't think he's particularly violating laws, he's a master of conducting legal deed through loopholes of law, which is yet to be arranged in current circumstances of the Internet society.
His misdeed was he hasn't shared part of his huge profit with shareholders. As if he forgot that his success was supported by millions of individual investors.
He has to not only read between the lines of stockmarket, but direction of wind in a society. Only when he lost support and popularity among people as well as thousands shareholders, he would have to think over his direction again.

Single Dominant vs Diversified Scarce
2006.01.20 9:45
Remember the role of bacteria is different from that of plants and animals. Main role of bacteria is to decompose corpse of those lives, so in order to decompose as quickly as possible, they don't need to diversify the kinds of their species, but they need a semi-single large quantity of bacteria. So in an area like the Amazon, single dominant species tend to flourish.
In an area like desert, the plants and animals are so adjusting to particular environment specifically, and their corpses are so hard to be decomposed under such severe circumstances. The kinds of bacteria tend to diversify according to the particular body they work, but the number of bacteria remains to be tremendously lower.
Rememer they are talking about the number of the kinds, not the entire quantity. Obviously the number of bacteria is by far exceeding in the Amazon than in desert. Whether it's relevant to talking about pH is questionable. I'm afraid that's a result, not a cause.

Cancer Is A Natural Result
2006.01.19 10:16

Cancer is formed from the consistent accumulation of carcinogen in parts of their body. Any carcinogen is so toxic to humans, unless it is formed later as cancer, it might directly cause their immediate death. Instead of their instant death, they will be formed to cancer and kill them whichever.
Cancer is a natural result of maximum resistance of their body to accumulate and concentrate venoms in parts of their body.

Human Map
2006.01.19 9:15
We thought about the cases of fauna of plants, animals and bacteria in both the Amazon and deserts. We can assume similar conclusion on human fauna here.
Chinese, Americans are semi-single dominant language group or people in the world, occupying large plain in the continent, which is suitable for living by a large number of people.
Geographically complex areas like Caucasus, Balkan, Central Asia and a rim of Russia are occupied by many peoples with small population each.
In talking about language group, the distinction is more apparent. Indo-European and Chinese are two major language groups with huge population, there are so many other languages with as many peoples.

Nihilism Of Europe
2006.01.13 8:49

'Those who rule Europe will rule the world. It is undoubted, but I don't think Hitler is trying to do so. ' -Stalin
As a matter of fact, two world wars were fought along with the border of Europe, at that time everybody had admitted that Europe was the centre of the world. But after the World War II, the Cold War, USA emerged as the No.1 country in the world. Now USA is the only Super Power. It is not a matter of hegemony, though, as long as USA keeps on exporting freedom and democracy, the liberation of knowledge will continue to be spread every nook and cranny. People in other region will try to develop another search engine inevitably.
Hitler was trying to prevail nihilism in Europe. The attempt was completely failed, though, the tradition of nihilism still remains strongly everywhere in Europe, they will show another alternative especially when they overcome its nihilism in the near future.
USA is superior to any other country in many respects, but not everything, USA is not the same as the world, and vice versa. There are many countries and regions other than USA. We ourselves have to form common knowledge not just from USA, EU, or any other region. The world doesn't need a centre of something. The world ought to be from unilateral image to multilateral one.

This material helps make us all minus-ionised (a little bit mystic though). Russian scholar Dr Kieton, professor at the University of St. Petersburg named it. Serious Crime, No Punishment

Serious Crime, No Punishment
2006.01.08 22:50

We've got tens of serious crimes out there and it was strange to find that the serious crime pays and less serious crime doesn't pay.

If criminals had a piece of conscience, he would be likely to be caught much more than the cases determined criminals who committed serious crimes with no feeling of regret, remorse, mercy. As a matter of fact, criminals who were caught were much more the ones those who committed it accidentally, with no particular intentions to do it, without convictions to do it, etc. By and large the criminals who were caught are the ones thought to be the offenders of less serious crimes.

The crimals who had a slightest of conscience are likely to be caught and punishable by very strict crimal codes as opposed to the criminals who didn't have the slightest of conscience, who had a full of malicious intent. As long as they are at large, they might be laughing behind the scenes or are they suffering from the pain of conscience for good?
